What is WonderFunds?
WonderFunds is a privacy-first personal finance app that helps you understand your spending. You upload bank statements (CSV or PDF), and WonderFunds categorizes your transactions using AI.
Do you connect to my bank?
No. WonderFunds never connects to your bank account. You export statements from your bank and upload them manually. This is a deliberate privacy choice.
What languages are supported?
WonderFunds is available in English and German. All features, help content, and the knowledge base are fully bilingual.
Is there a mobile app?
WonderFunds is a web application optimized for both desktop and mobile browsers. There is no native mobile app at this time.
Upload & Transactions
What file formats are supported?
CSV files are supported on all plans. PDF bank statements are supported on Pro and Expert plans. Scanned or image-based PDFs are not supported.
What is the maximum file size?
10 MB per upload.
How does deduplication work?
WonderFunds compares date, amount, and merchant name to detect duplicates. If you upload the same statement twice, duplicate transactions are automatically skipped.
Can I edit transactions after importing?
Yes. You can change the category, subcategory, and tags of any transaction from the Transactions page. You can also bulk-edit or delete transactions.
Categories & Rules
Can I create my own categories?
Yes. Go to Categories in the sidebar to create custom categories and subcategories with your own icons and colors.
What are categorization rules?
Rules (Expert plan) let you define patterns that automatically assign categories to transactions based on the merchant name. For example, "REWE" always goes to "Groceries".
How does AI categorization work?
WonderFunds uses AI to suggest a category for each transaction based on the merchant name and amount. You can accept or change the suggestion. The system learns from your corrections.
Privacy & Security
Is my data encrypted?
Yes. WonderFunds uses a two-layer encryption system (DEK/KEK) to protect the link between your identity and your financial data. Even a database breach would not reveal which data belongs to which user.
Do you store my bank account numbers?
No. WonderFunds never extracts or stores bank account numbers, IBANs, or card numbers from your statements.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Go to Settings > Data & Privacy > Delete Account. This permanently removes all your data, including the encryption key (crypto-shredding).
Is WonderFunds GDPR compliant?
Yes. WonderFunds is operated by a German company and fully complies with the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
Billing & Plans
What plans are available?
WonderFunds offers three plans: Free, Pro, and Expert. See Plans and Billing for a detailed comparison.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. First-time subscribers to a paid plan get a 7-day free trial with full access to all features.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to Billing in the sidebar and click Cancel Subscription. Your plan stays active until the end of the billing period, then reverts to Free.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept major credit and debit cards through Stripe. WonderFunds never stores your card details.

What is a Sankey diagram?
A Sankey diagram (Pro and Expert plans) visualizes the flow of money from income sources through expense categories and subcategories. The width of each flow is proportional to the amount.
How does recurring detection work?
WonderFunds (Pro and Expert plans) analyzes your transaction history to detect recurring patterns like subscriptions, rent, and salary. You can confirm or dismiss detected patterns.
What are AI Insights?
AI Insights (Expert plan) analyze your spending patterns and generate observations like spending trends, anomalies, and new recurring charges.
