Getting Started with WonderFunds

Welcome to WonderFunds

WonderFunds is a privacy-first personal finance app that helps you understand your spending without connecting to your bank. You upload bank statements, and WonderFunds categorizes your transactions using AI.

Step 1: Create Your Account

Sign up with your email address and a strong password (minimum 8 characters). You can optionally enable two-factor authentication later in Settings for extra security.

After registration, verify your email address by clicking the link we send you.

Step 2: Add a Financial Source

Before uploading transactions, create at least one financial source. A source represents a bank account, credit card, PayPal account, or any other financial account.

1. Go to Sources in the sidebar
2. Click Add Source
3. Choose a type (Bank Account, Credit Card, Payment Service, or Other)
4. Give it a name, select a currency, and pick an icon and color

Tip: Use descriptive names like "Main Checking Account" or "Visa Credit Card" so you can easily tell them apart.

Step 3: Upload Your First Statement

1. Go to Upload in the sidebar
2. Select the financial source you just created
3. Drag and drop a CSV or PDF file (max 10 MB)
4. WonderFunds will parse your file and detect transactions automatically

Supported Formats

• CSV files (all plans): Most banks offer CSV exports of your transactions. WonderFunds auto-detects the column layout.
• PDF statements (Pro and Expert plans): Upload PDF bank statements directly. Scanned/image-based PDFs are not supported.

Step 4: Review AI Categorization

After uploading, WonderFunds uses AI to categorize each transaction:

• Green checkmark: High-confidence categorization, auto-confirmed
• Yellow flag: Needs your review -- click to change the category
• Use Confirm All to accept all high-confidence suggestions at once

You can always change categories later from the Transactions page.

Step 5: Explore Your Dashboard

Once your transactions are imported, your dashboard comes alive:

• Summary cards show your income, expenses, and net balance
• Spending by category chart breaks down where your money goes
• Income vs. expenses trend shows your financial trajectory over time
• Top categories highlight your biggest spending areas
